Arrived for Fender in 1958. They wanted to add a little something. That was a deep red edge for the transition of brown to yellow. It looked great and stuck. Almost all of these were finished over alder except for special orders. When they made the switch they felt the burst was to dark. So they actually bleached the alder tops and backs to make them look more like ash. We go over this in our Bursts page.  PLEASE READ.

THESE TONER AND SHADERS MUST BE SPRAYED OVER SOLVENT BASED FINISHES. IE OUR SEALER OR NC LACQUER.

2 Variations you can get. Pre 1964 sunburst or Post 1964 sunburst (CBS era). Needs to be used with our regular clear coat and sealer for a perfect finish. Please see our sunburst page.

Note: We have a custom mix for the post 1964 sunburst. It's an "opaque" whitish yellow. More bright yellow than white. I've received several requests for this finish. These guitars were very bright to cover the amount of pieces the bodies were made from.

There is two ways to achieve this finish.

1) Spray our vintage toner over a white base.

2) Request a custom opaque yellow toner to be made for you.

* Always shake your cans well to make sure the dyes are properly mixed before spraying.
